Top Three Health Foods I Attribute to my Postpartum Mom Bod

Whether you’re a Mom, Dad, or neither yet, these foods apply to all. I started my health journey when I was diagnosed with Postpartum Anxiety, which was so foreign to anything I have ever experienced. It was a rough time for me with too many things going on to name, but it inspired me to achieve complete body wellness from the inside out. I have also struggled with a bad back for a couple of years now and I wanted to reduce inflammation in my body to help me not only feel better physically but also mentally. I was tired of feeling sluggish and just not my self. So I decided to do something about it. I have never felt comfortable showing off my mid section because that was always my “trouble” spot even when I was still very thin and working out a ton! Can you imagine that I’m now more confident than ever showing it off and after having a baby too?! I have worked out my entire life and I’m a huge proponent of exercise BUT you have to couple it with diet if you want real results. Here are a few of my favorite go-to’s that helped me make this positive change in my life:

1.) Grain-Free Everything (Grain Free is different from Gluten Free)

After reading some amazing health articles by some very renowned doctors and nutritionalists about grains and our diet, I wanted to try this ASAP. However, this has been the hardest for me because i LOVE CARBS. I love everything about them. I can eat an entire loaf of french bread if I wanted to. Pasta is my everything. Dinner rolls, Bread, Pizza, Carbs and more Carbs are my favorite. So If I can do this, you can too, trust me. And honestly, it hasn’t been as hard as I thought because I can still eat my favorite things, they’re just made with different ingredients. Ive been cooking a lot with Almond Flour and Coconut Flour and making yummy muffins, bread and even cake that was to die for. So I have switched to Paleo “carbs” and I can honestly say this has made the biggest difference for me. They even make really yummy Grain Free tortillas and Cauliflower “rice” and pizza. Yum.

2.) Avocados

My hair is glorious right now and I truly believe it’s from these amazing things. I eat about one a day and it levels out my blood sugar and they are full of good fats and oils. Have one as a snack with some garlic salt on it or make some guacamole and enjoy with some grain free tortilla chips. Ive always loved Avos especially being a So Cal girl where Mexican food is basically in my blood and in my soul, so this one has been easy for me to do.

3.) Coconut & Almond Dairy

This was also an easy switch for me because it’s actually really damn good. Coconut yogurt is in my opinion better than regular yogurt and you need to try it. The coffee creamer I’ve been using is Almond Creamer with no added sugar and I don’t miss my regular coffee creamer at all because it is that creamy and good! And FYI The regular creamer in the store that says “Dairy Free” still has Casein in it as an ingredient which is still a milk derived protein and some people (including me) still have sensitivities to it….
